Hooking a Projector to a Laptop

When preparing for a presentation, it's important to follow a step by step procedure. Outside of the show itself, nowhere is this more true than in the technical details. Since most computer hardware requires things to be assembled in a certain order, hooking up a laptop to your projector can be a confusing process. To make things easier, we present this step by step guide to getting your linkup up and running.

-        Make sure both your laptop and the projector are turned off. Once this is assured, connect the two pieces of equipment using the proper cable. More often than not, this will be a 15-pin, D-style connector, exactly the same as that used to attached a standard VGA monitor.

-        Turn on the projector first, and let the lamp warm up for a few minutes. Point it at the proper display surface, to be sure that some sort of picture is being projected.

-        Once you can see the test image, start up your computer, letting it run all the way through the loading process.

-        Once your operating system is booted, the computer should automatically recognize the projector. In the event that this does not occur, use the proper function keys to tell your machine to display through the VGA port. This is often a combination of Fn+F5, Fn+F7, or Fn+F8. If you don't want to give random commands to your computer, look for a small image that looks like a computer screen on the keys themselves. This will probably be the proper one.

-        In the event that this doesn't work, try turning everything off and then restart the computer without the projector attached. Once your OS is back up, try plugging in the projector then.

In order to do all this, of course, you'll need to have a projector on hand. If you're having trouble tracking one down, why not check out AA-Rental.com? They've got more than a dozen different models, each of which fits a specific need. With screens, sound systems, and other tools also available, they have everything you need to put together a complete presentation.
