Audio Visual Tech I

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Ability to set up simple PowerPoint presentations, connecting notebook and desktop computers with display interfaces to portable and installed data projectors; able to correctly size and adjust a data image on-screen
  2. Ability to set up simple audio systems consisting of microphones, mixer, amplifier, and speakers and adjust system for good speech level with no feedback; other audio sources such as computer audio and/or CD/DVD playback may also be required to hook up to mixer.
  3. Setup a music system for a concert.
  4. Knowledge of different types of amplifiers, equalizers, crossovers, microphones etc.
  5. Ability to setup and perform playback from VCRs, DVDs and cassette decks
  6. Ability to record output of audio mixer to dual cassette decks and/or mp3 recorders
  7. Understanding of the various types of signals (i.e., audio, video and computer) used with common audiovisual equipment.
  8. Audio / Video equipment troubleshooting and testing.
  9. Ability to install an operating system (XP, Vista, 200pro) and configure a laptop according to the customer specifications.
  10. Ability to re-image a laptop from the saved archives.
  11. Once the equipments are returned, they need to be tested and restored to their default configuration before they go on the shelf.
  12. Making the orders ready for the customer for next day pickup/setups/deliveries.
  13. Informing the management for any missing/broken equipment/accessory.
  14. Maintaining and driving the company's van in a very responsible manner.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines.
  2. Ability to understand CAD and various types of diagrams.
  3. Customer oriented and project management skills must.
  4. Excellent communicator in English.
  5. Ability to thrive in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  6. Good knowledge of current industry practices, standards and procedures relevant to audio-visual service.
  7. PC proficient - must know how to install OS, device drivers and setup the system according to the company's specs.
  8. Skilled with hand and power tools and trouble shoot the equipments when needed.
  9. Solid work ethic. Understanding how to distribute time so that the project is handled without a glitch.
  10. Video production and post production skills at least with adobe premiere or final cut pro (desirable).
  11. Willing to undergo background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. The duties of this position require the ability to bend, kneel, crawl, climb ladders and to stand for long periods of time
  2. Candidate must be capable of working at heights and have good balance.
  3. Candidate may be required to lift heavy equipment up to 60 pounds alone.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering or related field preferred; or Technical school training with electronics training and related experience.
  2. Infocomm CTS certification preferred.
  3. 3 years experience with the setup, operation and troubleshooting of conference rooms, auditoriums, theater, hotels and/or broadcast environment.

 

CHALLENGES:

  1. Deadlines: 10:00 clock means 10:00. You should allow extra time for the setup to complete.
  2. Working as late as 2:00am in the morning or getting every thing ready as early as 6:00am in the morning for the next setup. Its means allowing yourself enough sleep time.
  3. When doing multiple set ups on Friday or during some holidays. Make sure you do those setups in a very timely manner or there will be be no pay.
  4. You are responsible of any of your ticket during job.
  5. If customer asks for refund because of bad service or setup (technician) it will be coming out of your pocket.
  6. Getting ready for the setup: You should know what kind of equipments/accessories you need for the setup. Making things ready in such a away that you will not be calling in the office for redelivery or coming back for pickup. It really becomes challenging when you have multiple setups in a day.
  7. You will be responsible for any breakage or missing equipments.
  8. Last but not least, keeping smile even though you are totally exhausted, in front of the customers and the owners.
